Why don't you dance the Bon Dance "Ou Watatsumi Bon" of the tradition of the earthquake?

Period Saturday, October 15, 2022 〜 Sunday, October 30, 2022

In 2019, the traditional dance "Ou Watatsumi Bonyo" was created by young people of traditional performing arts, including Masahiro Nakagawa of Home Nihon Buyo.

Taga Castle is recorded in Japan's Three Major Real Records that the tsunami hit the castle in major earthquake in Jogan 11 (869). About a thousand years later, the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 flooded about one-third of the city area, causing enormous damage.
Now that 11 years have passed since then, and reconstruction has progressed, we must pass on the memories of the earthquake to future generations without weathering in order to protect the lives of the next generation.

The traditional Japanese culture of Bon Odori, which has been handed down since ancient times, contains the meaning and desire to memorialize the victims and loved ones without forgetting in the event of a disaster, famine, or war.

Through the Japanese culture of Bon Odori, the Ou Watatsumi Bon Festival was created with the aim of continuing to pass on the memories of Great East Japan Earthquake, which is said to be great disaster once every millennium, to the next generation and to the future of 1,000 years later.

Why don't you experience the traditional performing arts and culture of Japan through the newly created "Ou Watatsumi Bon" as part of the disaster tradition? First-time students are also welcome!
