Tagajo Monument is designated as a national treasure!
Currently, the Taga Castle Monument, an important cultural property, has become a national treasure, and some of the text materials excavated in the city have become important cultural properties!
Tagajo Monument is a Nara period stone monument on the east side of Taga Jonanmon Gate, and is counted as one of the three ancient monuments in Japan.
It was also included in many waka poems as a song pillow called "Tsubono Ishibumi", and in the Edo period, Matsuo Basho actually visited the Tagajo monument and shed tears sohaikai's philosophy of "easy flow."
This Tagajo monument is one of the few stone monuments of Nara period in Japan, and the inscription contains information not included in the official records of the country at that time, such as the establishment of Tagajo in the first year of Jinki era (724).
As a historical material that conveys the contents written in the Nara era to the present day as it is, it was highly evaluated for its historical and academic value in elucidating Taga Castle and the history of ancient Tohoku.
This year is the commemorative year of 724 to 1300, which was engraved on the Taga Castle monument.
